This set includes five natural orange kyanite blades from the Loliondo area of Tanzania, each individually drilled for use in jewellery. The colour varies across the group from golden orange and amber through to deeper burnt orange, with some lovely translucent areas where the thinner parts of the crystals catch the light.

I particularly like that these still look very much like natural crystals rather than conventional jewellery components. Each blade keeps its original shape, surface texture and slightly different colour, with the drill hole simply making them ready to turn into pendants or incorporate into other jewellery designs. Orange is an unusual colour for kyanite, which makes this Tanzanian material particularly interesting.

The Loliondo attribution is also meaningful here rather than decorative provenance. GIA analysed orange kyanite from Loliondo and found that manganese is responsible for this unusual orange colour.

Metaphysical Properties

Orange kyanite is often associated with creativity, confidence and motivation. In crystal traditions, it is also linked with bringing energy to new ideas and encouraging a more positive approach to change.
