This golden-yellow fluorite from El Hammam is made up of several intergrown cubic crystals, with a warm honey colour running through the specimen and paler champagne-yellow areas where the light passes through more easily. For something only 2.8cm across, there is quite a lot going on, the cubes overlap at different levels rather than forming one simple block, giving it a much more three-dimensional shape.
What I particularly like about this one is how little of the specimen is visually wasted. It is predominantly fluorite crystal, with the larger cubes sitting amongst smaller stepped growth rather than being a tiny crystal perched on a large piece of matrix. El Hammam is one of Morocco’s established fluorite localities, and this is a very nice small collector specimen for somebody who specifically likes yellow Moroccan fluorite and cubic crystal growth.

Metaphysical
In crystal traditions, yellow fluorite is often associated with focus, confidence and clearer thinking. These beliefs are traditional rather than scientifically established, but they remain part of the way fluorite has been collected and used by some people outside mineral collecting.
