This solid opal is completely untreated — no backing, no filler — just 100% natural Australian material with outstanding play-of-colour. A superb choice for collectors, fine jewellery makers, or anyone seeking a one-of-a-kind opal that holds its own under varied lighting.

Lightning Ridge black opals are considered the finest in the world, and this piece is no exception. The body tone falls around N3, creating the rich, dark base that makes the bright fire really pop. This stone displays a broad flash pattern with shifting green and violet colouration, visible under both natural and artificial light. Its symmetry and well-executed high dome make it ideal for claw or bezel setting — but it’s also worthy of a collector’s display box as-is.

Unlike Ethiopian material, which can be porous and unstable, this is a durable and water-resistant opal, formed over millions of years in the renowned Lightning Ridge fields of New South Wales.
