Fluorite Crystal Specimen, Butterfly Pocket, Blue Purple Phantom Cubes, Okorusu Mine, Namibia

This small Butterfly Pocket fluorite has remarkably strong colour for its size. The main cubic crystals are highly translucent blue green to turquoise, with darker teal interiors and violet-purple zoning visible through and around the larger faces. Under stronger light, the thinner crystal edges become considerably brighter, giving the specimen a very different appearance depending on the angle.

The crystal growth is particularly interesting. Broad glassy cube faces sit alongside stepped and intergrown fluorite, while the opposite side becomes much more complex, with smaller purple and blue-green growth covering part of the specimen. Patches of yellow-orange mineralisation provide an unexpected contrast without overwhelming the fluorite itself.
