This epidote with quartz specimen from Hakkari, Turkey has a completely different look to the softer moss-green material from the locality. Here, the epidote is much darker and more clearly developed into individual crystals, ranging from deep olive green to almost black. Those darker crystals sit around and between several larger pale quartz points, giving the piece a much stronger contrast than the finer “forest” style.

What I like most is the shape of the specimen. The taller quartz crystals give it a proper three-dimensional profile, while the smaller clear to translucent crystals fill the gaps between the darker epidote. It feels much more architectural than a flat plate, and there is something interesting to look at from almost every angle.
