This is a natural Swiss Alpine quartz crystal from Geeren Valley in Obergoms, Valais, Switzerland, with a clear terminated point rising directly from its original matrix. The main crystal has bright vitreous faces and good internal clarity, while smaller associated quartz crystals around the base give the piece a more complete cluster form rather than the look of an isolated quartz point.
What I particularly like about this one is the balance between the main termination and the natural matrix around it. At only 3.3 cm across it is a compact Swiss quartz specimen, but the upright crystal, smaller secondary growth and warm natural staining give it plenty of character from different angles. The matrix has been left exactly as found, preserving the Alpine growth rather than presenting the crystal as cleaned or detached rough.
