This rare quartz crystal wasn’t dug from a roadcut or quarried by machine, it was hand-extracted at high altitude in the Swiss Alps by artisanal miners working steep rock faces above the treeline. No two pieces are alike, and few ever make it to the wider market.

This particular crystal weighs 33.6g and measures 4.3 x 2.2 x 2.1 cm. It features a double termination with gentle tapering at one end and classic alpine etching along the prism faces. The colour is a soft grey-smoky tone, typical of Tour Noir material, with a subtle translucency under strong light. Minor natural contact marks are visible, and there are small siderite inclusions, adding to its mineralogical appeal.

This is an affordable, well-sized example of hand-mined Swiss alpine quartz with good provenance and integrity; an excellent pick for collectors looking for a classic yet modestly priced example of this famous high-altitude material.
