This is one of those little Alpine quartz pieces that has much more going on than its size suggests. What caught my eye immediately was the broad white faden running through the centre, surrounded by much clearer quartz. Turn it around and the internal seam changes quite dramatically, while the natural faces and terminations give it a really interesting shape from several angles.

It comes from the Faden Pocket at Piz Beverin in Graubünden, Switzerland, a classic Alpine quartz locality. At just 2.8 cm across this is a small specimen, but the faden is unusually easy to see and gives the piece far more character than a typical clear quartz crystal of this size.
