This natural smoky quartz crystal cluster displays an unusual frosted quartz overgrowth that gives the specimen a soft, snow covered appearance. Beneath the later crystal growth, pale smoky quartz remains visible, creating contrast, depth and a more complex appearance than a typical quartz cluster. It is a piece that reveals more detail the longer you spend looking at it.

Collected from the Swiss Alps, this specimen shows evidence of multiple stages of crystal growth. The frosted surface texture developed after the original smoky quartz formed, preserving part of the crystal’s geological history. The result is an attractive Alpine quartz specimen with character, texture and a distinctive appearance that stands apart from more common quartz clusters. Swiss Alpine quartz is highly regarded amongst mineral collectors due to the challenging conditions in which many specimens are recovered and the long history of crystal collecting throughout the region.
