I really like this one. It is an old-collection fluorite from Jebel Tirremi in the Taourirt Complex, Morocco, dominated by one large, very glassy cubic crystal. The fluorite is mostly pale lilac to almost colourless through the centre, with much stronger violet-purple concentrated around the edges and corners. Because the main cube takes up such a large proportion of the whole 3.5cm specimen, it has far more presence than you would expect from something weighing only 37g.

This piece was mined more than 12 years ago and then kept in my supplier’s personal collection until I acquired it. The fluorite is particularly nice when light passes through it, showing the internal clarity and subtle purple zoning much more clearly. It sits on a contrasting white crystalline matrix which is most likely baryte, with some natural rusty iron staining around the base. There are minor contacts, natural surface texture and small imperfections from growth and extraction, all left exactly as found and shown clearly in the photographs.
