This 2.6g natural diopside crystal comes from the famous Merelani Hills in northern Tanzania, a locality renowned for producing some of the world’s finest gem-quality diopside. Displaying a well-formed prismatic crystal habit with a delicate apple to yellow-green colour, it is an attractive collector specimen from one of the mineral world’s most recognised deposits.
The crystal measures as shown in the thumbnail photograph for scale and retains excellent natural transparency, allowing its internal growth structure and characteristic vertical striations to be seen. Natural dark mineral inclusions and contact features remain as formed, preserving the specimen’s authenticity. An ideal addition for mineral collectors, Merelani locality collectors or anyone who appreciates naturally crystallised gemstones.
