A lovely epidote with quartz specimen from Hakkari, Turkey, with dense moss-green epidote spreading across and between a mass of pale quartz crystals. The epidote is the real feature here: it forms fine ridges, fuzzy-looking growths and darker pockets throughout the piece, giving it that very distinctive “Fairy Forest” look that Hakkari material is known for. The quartz ranges from translucent grey-green to milky white, with larger crystals around the edges and smaller points filling the centre.

What I like most about this one is how naturally overgrown it looks. The epidote doesn’t just sit on one side of the specimen; it threads through the quartz and follows the crystal faces, so there is something to look at across almost the entire display surface. It is a relatively thin piece, but the amount of texture packed into it gives it much more presence than the dimensions suggest, especially under strong lighting where the epidote picks up a fine sparkle.
